Ristretto #24 - .NET Conf Edition

👋 On the road again...
VS Live Orlando kicks of this week and I am about to hop on a plane and head to a conference for the first time in two years. I think VS Live Orlando 2019 may have been my last conference before that 🤔. I am excited to get back up on stage and present, but also nervous about just about everything. I mean we are still in a pandemic (the VS Live team is doing a fantastic job with health & vaccine checks), it is Florida, and I haven’t presented on a stage in 2 years, and I have a keynote, and 3 other sessions! I signed up for way too much that is for sure, however I have to say spending all week prepping for the sessions has been a lot of fun. I think I will record them after and throw them up on my YouTube. We will see how it goes and I will report back next weekend!
Oh, also can someone please stop daylight savings time I would prefer for it NOT to be dark at 4:30PM.
📰 .NET Conf 2021
.NET 6 is here! Visual Studio 2022 is here! C# 10 is here! Oh, and .NET MAUI Preview 10 and a super rad demo app for the .NET Conf Keynote that I got to help manage and work on! If there was ever a week dedicated to .NET developers, this was it. With around 60 hours of content between the two events you could tune in at any time and see something awesome that you wanted to try out. I am in love with all of the new C# 10 features and really excited for the new Minimal API feature in ASP.NET Core. With Minimal API I feel as though I can become a backend web developer for my apps as it is an API that I understand and really fits my needs. It reminds me a bit of work with Azure Functions and HTTP triggers as you can easily create an API in a matter of seconds without much ceremony at all.
Did I mention a new awesome demo app?!?!? Check it out in my latest .NET MAUI walk through ->

Let’s not forget our friends over on Visual Studio for Mac who put out a 2022 Preview 3 that supports .NET 6 and all of the new features. Oh, and they also announced they are brining native M1 support to VS for Mac! They are able to do this as they are moving VS for Mac to run on the .NET 6 CLR! WHOA!
